A survey has recently come out that says that we don't like to go camping. Really? They will be the ones who don't know Comanche equipment.
The survey carried out by Musement, an international platform for tourist activities, says that almost a 20% of those surveyed confirm that going camping is the first thing they would reject to spend their holidays. And among women this percentage still rises to 22%.
A determining factor is also age. People between 51 and 60 years old are the ones who least want this activity (22%). They are followed by those in the age group between 36 and 50 years (20%) and those between 25 and 35 years (18%).

We have wondered why these results and we believe that the aversion to camping holidays is rooted in COMFORT.
We always say that Being at a campsite should be as comfortable as if you were at home.. But if there are leaks, humidity or little space, it is difficult to relax and not miss the sofa at home.
In our article about waterproofing We help you prevent and repair leaks so you can sleep soundly even during a storm.
In this other article about progress We gave you the tricks to get more space in your Comanche tent. In this way, both the children and the rest of the “junk” have their space and it is possible to maintain order.
And now to make you feel like you are in your own home, we help you choose the best floor for camping. Because walking barefoot through your tent, without humidity, without puddles, without grass or sand, is the COMFORT you need to enjoy your camping vacation.
What types of camping floors are there?
There is a wide range of solutions on the market for camping floors. They will be differentiated by the quality of the fabric, the insulation, the assembly, the lightness and of course also by the price. You can find:
- bolon floors
- From Aerotex
- of raffia
- Mesh type
- foam tiles
- PVC
At Comanche we have tested all of these soils. It has been a long process, sometimes fun and sometimes not so much. Thanks to good and bad experiences we have been able to choose 3 types of floors that could fit the needs of our campers.
1. Bolon camping floors
It's called Bolon like tissues are called Kleenex. Bolon is a Swedish carpet trademark. More than 60 years ago it occurred to them to transform leftover fabrics into patchwork rugs. Thanks to this, today we have floors for our Comanche tents.
Bolon fabric is a generally recycled and synthetic material which has a very characteristic braided texture. It's a product:
- Breathable – prevents mold and mildew formation
- Flexible
- Highly resistant and safe
- Easy to place
- Very comfortable
- Easy to clean
- Fireproof
- UV resistant
- It doesn't tear or fray, so you can adjust its measurements to the shape you need
- Filters rainwater and does not become puddled thanks to its characteristic braiding
- High quality
Get a perfect insulation for terrains such as grass, dirt, gravel and sand.
You simply spread it on the ground, tension it well and hold it with clamps, or with pegs (most people nail it, because, being cut to size, you will always place it in the same position, just like the anchor points of the store…)
It is an option of medium-high range since the quality and its features are excellent.
This is how it looks in our Compact tent preview:
2. Raffia camping floors
Rafia is this typical green canvas, which you probably already know.
It is manufactured with synthetic threads, braided at a 90 degree angle and its main characteristic is great resistance and durability.
Unlike Bolon, raffia is raincoat. If you place it on the floor it will protect you perfectly from humidity but it will also not allow any liquid to pass through. That is to say, if you pour some water on top of the raffia, you will have to collect it, you are guaranteed a puddle.
Thanks to its waterproofness, it has also found other uses in camping, especially to cover objects that you do not want to get wet during the rain.
It is a product of economical price, very easy to find in stores and also the most in demand because it is the best known. Is light, flexible and takes up very little space.
In Comanche we have already placed some eyelets at the ends so you can tension it and secure it comfortably with pegs.
There are also different sizes so you can choose the one that best suits the use you want to give it. And as always, to make your work easier, in our Online store We have given each size the name of your tent so you can find your model quickly.
3. Comanche PVC bucket floor
This is our favorite floor! Because we have done it tailored and fits like a glove.
We have it for our tent advance models, manufactured from 2018 onwards:
It is a floor manufactured in PVC, with zipper closure, to fix on the walls of tents. Make sure it is compatible with your Comanche Avance model, they have different shapes and sizes.
This floor is the complement ideal for camping in areas of high humidity, or cold areas.
It will help you completely isolate the space, since It is shaped like a bathtub with walls that rise towards the sides of the advance.
It also has different openings so that it can be used with the awning installed with the doors open, eliminating the risk of tripping.
Being made of PVC, it is easy cleaning and maintenance and great resistance. It is assembled by nailing it with pegs into the ground and fixing it to the awning with its zippers. (NOTE! It is only compatible with current advances.)
All the necessary zippers and parts are already incorporated into the product so you can install it easily and quickly.
And so it remains in our Montana Explorer model:
And so in the Compact model:
Conclusion
Despite the results of the survey we talked about in principle, according to the Spanish Camping Federation (FEEC), Last year the campsites were occupied almost 80% of their capacity, the data very similar to the previous year. Furthermore, many of them were completely in the high season, between July 15 and August 26.
These campers sure knew how to bring the comfort of their home into nature and enjoy some quality relaxing time. Everything is in the details.
And you? Do you already have the camping floor in your Comanche? Because walking barefoot around your tent and its “terrace” is a joy.
